Do your best

Three days before my second exam
We had lunch at Marie Callender's
with Cheryl, a good friend of ours.
We talked over bowls of chili and cornbread
slathered in delicious honey butter.
And of course, Marie's "famous" French apple pie.

Just before we said our goodbyes,
Cheryl encourged me by saying
"You just have to do your best with what you've got
and leave the rest to the Lord"

With the perfectionist that I am
I often feel like I'm not prepared enough
and I stress out for days, weeks even before the exam
Cheryl told me sometimes it's ok not to be perfect
It's ok to do the best that we possibly can under those circumstances
give it a shot with all we've got and that's enough.

Cheryl

Cheryl

  1. I am kinda perfectionist too. I guess I should take Cheryl's words to encourage myself.

  2. You are a super perfectionist, so I think sometimes you should relax and do something fun, dear.
