Summer Strolls

I like to take long walks

to discover extraordinary beauty

in the perfectly ordinary settings.

I spotted:

 Pretty windows in pretty houses

Poster for Andy Warhol exhibit at MOCA

Vintage Jurgensen's Groceries ad

Flowers growing between iron bars

Movie theater in the evening light

Sparrows in a row chatting on a roof

An amiable puppy saying hello

And the rays of sunset falling upon a rose

喜歡自己一個人散步

在普通的生活場景中

發現令人讚嘆的美麗.

我看到:

有大大落地窗的漂亮房子

MOCA美術館的Andy Warhol展海報

復古Jurgensen's Groceries廣告

在鐵欄中生存綻放的花朵

黃昏中的電影院招牌

屋頂上排排坐的麻雀們

一隻友善跑來打招呼的小狗

還有照射在玫瑰花上的夕陽

~LA~ Obon festival

Over this weekend the Obon Festival

took place in West LA

Food stalls, creative games

and lots of people 

wearing beautiful yukadas.

And when the time came to dance 

the traditional Bon Odori,

people young and old

Japanese and American

or no matter where you are from 

all joined in 

to the steady beating of the drums

in a celebration of cultural diversity.

這個周末West LA慶祝

日本的盂蘭盆節

像台灣學校的園遊會一樣

有食物攤子和小遊戲

還有許多人穿著美麗的浴衣

而且當要跳日本傳統舞蹈 Bon Odori時

不分年幼老少

國籍種族

文化信仰

大家都一起加入

跟著鼓聲齊舞

慶祝在這塊土地上

不同的文化可以和平的交流.

 Flowers swaying gently in the breeze

purple, white, blue and pink

A few cats peeked out from their seat

"why, girl, are you taking a picture of me?"

Just another walk around my neighborhood.

鮮花在春風中搖曳

紫色,白色,藍色和粉紅色

幾隻貓從他們的寶座上

與我大眼瞪小眼

"女孩,你為什麼一直在拍我們?"

在我的社區散步.

Until the sea melts into the sky

We climbed and climbed

until the sun began to set

and the sea melted with the sky

High above, hung by a silver thread

the moon winks 

and bids Los Angeles

 Goodnight

我們不斷不斷的往上爬

直到太陽漸漸下山

海洋和天空合為一體

結合成出最美的藍

月亮被一條絲線釣著在半空中

向洛杉磯道聲

晚安

A Raspberry filled heart

 My own heart skipped a beat

when I spotted this little beauty

in the local bakery

I can not go to Paris

no, not yet

So a heart shaped cookie 

filled with sweet raspberry filling

Is the next best thing  I can get.

從離我家附近的麵包店

帶回這塊美麗的餅乾

我暫時還必須耐心的等待

直到能真正去巴黎

於是"巴黎麵包店"的

山莓醬心型餅乾

是我和巴黎最近的距離.

Homemade Okonomiyaki

My friend showed me how to make

homemade okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake)

You can buy okonomiyaki mix at any Japanese supermarket

Just add whatever ingredients you like into the mix,

 fry it in a non-stick pan

add the yummy okonomiyaki sauce...

朋友教我如何在家做大阪燒

首先在日本超市買大阪燒mix包

然後隨個人喜好加食材mix在一起

用不沾鍋煎一煎

加點可口的大阪燒醬...

Squeeze some super delicious Japanese mayo

Sprinkle on dried bonito flakes...

再加上超級好吃的日式美乃滋

撒點柴魚片...

Lastly top off with some seaweed

and then dig in~~~

最後放點海苔

然後就可以享用了歐~~~

I made a cat face for my friend

out of yummy Japanese mayo! he he he

我用日式美乃滋

把大阪燒上變成了隻貓,呵呵

Happy zebras and flying dogs

dancing round and round

on a golden carousel

A hidden playground, a serene world

for the child that is in us all

大象和長頸鹿樹

搖擺著頭打招呼

快樂班馬與飛行狗

在旋轉木馬上

繞啊繞啊跳著舞

一個讓童心未泯的大小孩們

暫時忘記煩惱的秘密遊樂園
