Over this weekend the Obon Festival
took place in West LA
Food stalls, creative games
and lots of people
wearing beautiful yukadas.
And when the time came to dance
the traditional Bon Odori,
people young and old
Japanese and American
or no matter where you are from
all joined in
to the steady beating of the drums
in a celebration of cultural diversity.
I love festivals like this, especially when they give me the chance to learn about a culture I didn't grow up in. And those little girls look so cute! This must have been a blast!
ReplyDeleteTo Brandi: That was the reason I wanted to go - to learn about the Japanese culture.
